Today the Manitoba government proclaimed, October 15 – 19 to be Health Care Support Workers’ Week, and October 18 will be Health Care Aide Day.

The healthcare support workers form the foundations of our health care system. These frontline workers truly are the backbones of health care, they take care of the often overlooked or under-appreciated duties required to keep our health care system running smoothly and efficiently. Both in front and behind the scenes these frontline workers ensure that all our loved one’s needs are met.

“This week is an important acknowledgement to these frontline workers, especially while they are put to the test with the changes happening in our health care system, and the excessive levels of overtime and increased demands,” said President Jeff Traeger. “Let’s all take a moment this week to thank those who perform the under-appreciated duties in our health care system.”
